Money – the root of all evil?

One of the biggest causes of stress today is money. Many Americans are stressed out by the economy, their retirement plans, and the housing market. With all this uncertainty it has become more difficult to concentrate on our daily tasks.

Money is a much needed commodity for things like food, shelter, and clothing. The Bible says that the love of money is the root of all evil. That’s true especially if that’s where ones heart is. How much money do we need? That question can have a multitude of answers. For the most part, it all depends on your lifestyle. Are you living above your means, or are you living within your means?

I would have to say that the majority of people are living above their means; living on borrowed money, which is the major view of the world in which we live. Credit card debt and subprime mortgage loans are the major reasons our country (USA) is in the economic situation it’s in today (Oct 2008). And the government is no better; they’re living on borrowed money ($11 trillion in debt) as well. Is this the real “American Dream”?

Help from the Feds?

As our politicians (the ones that created this crisis) try to wiggle their way out of this mess, the American people struggle from day to day trying to figure out what to do. The uncertainty of our financial sector can be seen in the stock market, investment companies, and lending institutes. The hard working tax-paying Americans are the ones that are going to pay for the mistakes of our government and the so-called financial gurus. Many Americans are going to lose their retirement nest-eggs as the dollar continues to plummet.

Is there any hope for the younger generation, the ones that will have to support the 7 million baby-boomers that are on the verge of retirement (at least they think they are). Is there anything “We the People” can do to help the situation? YES! Contact your Senators and Congressmen and women and tell them to find the people responsible and hold them accountable for their actions. We need to become activists and start getting on the people that we have elected. Make them start doing their jobs!

Take action – Start a Home Business

Is that newspaper clipping correct? Many individuals think so, that’s why they are turning to home based businesses to help offset the declining dollar, and the rising cost of groceries and gasoline. Home businesses can be found in just about every industry known to man, from janitorial services to home healthcare.

A home business may be right for you, or at least you should take a look at it. If you’re waiting for the Federal Government to take care of you in your retirement years – you better think again.

It’s time for all Americans to stand up and fight for our own financial independence. It’s time for Americans to get their houses in order, to change their priorities, and focus on the most important things first, God and family. Creating a stable household, and family, is part of your responsibility as a parent or spouse, and that responsibility starts with having healthy finances.
